The protective pads for the rear wheels of the Golf model and the wheel arch extensions of the Jetta model are attached using so-called clamping washers, plastic fasteners, and self-tapping screws.

Rear wheel arch trims: Remove the clamping washers from the protective corner pins from the inside.

In most cases, at least one of these thin pins breaks.

Since gluing is of little use, a new overlay is needed.

In models produced after August 1978, at the bottom, near the protective cover, you also need to push out a plastic pin.

To secure the clamping washers, press them down with a small socket head.

Remove the hex head screws from the wheel arch extensions.
