Formel E models are equipped with gear shift and fuel consumption indicators. The indicator light comes on in all gears except the highest, if it is possible to reduce fuel consumption by engaging a higher gear. The indicator does not work if the carburetor air damper is closed.
The fuel consumption indicator only functions in the highest gear and shows the current fuel consumption value (l/km). The gear shift indicator is activated by a signal from a sensor in the transmission, and the fuel consumption indicator is activated by a valve built into the vacuum tube leading to the carburetor.
If the gear shift indicator and fuel consumption indicator systems are not functioning properly, contact a VW representative who has the necessary testing equipment.
