Weakening



1. Remove the upper timing belt guard.

2. Loosen the 3 screws securing the water pump. Fold the shelf to the right with a crowbar and loosen the toothed belt.

Tension



Use a crowbar to turn the loosened pump to the left (up) and tighten the toothed belt.

Checking the timing belt tension



1. The timing belt should twist 90° when pressed with your thumb and forefinger in the middle between the camshaft drive gear and the water pump(1/4 turn). If more, tighten the belt.

3. Turn the crankshaft 2 revolutions and check the tension of the toothed belt, adjust if necessary. To do this, engage 5th gear and push the car on a level surface or lift the car from the front and turn the front wheel.

4. Install the timing belt cover.
