Adjusting the timing belt tension

Weakening
1. Remove the upper timing belt cover.
2. Install a nut tool, such as HA2ET 2587, on the tension roller.
3. Loosen the tension roller mounting screw with an open-end wrench.
4. Turn the tension roller to the left, in the direction opposite to the arrow (see fig. Adjusting the timing belt tension) and loosen the timing belt.
Tension
1. Turn the tension roller to the right, in the direction of the arrow (see fig. Adjusting the timing belt tension) and tighten the timing belt.
2. The timing belt, when pressed with the thumb and forefinger in the middle between the camshaft drive gear and the intermediate gear, can twist by 90°.
3. Tighten the tension roller mounting nut to 45 Nm.
4. Install the upper timing belt cover.
5. Let the engine run. If the belt whistles, then as a rule, the tension is too high.
