The 0.3 bar oil switch is identified by the brown insulation. It is located in the place of the former oil switch between the protective tubes of the pushers. Additional oil switch 0.9 bar (gray insulation) located to the left of the oil pump.
Check oil level.
Check the wiring of both switches according to the wiring diagram.
Oil switch test 0.9 bar
Loosen muffler cover nut (under the oil pump). Press muffler cover aside.
Unscrew the 0.9 bar oil switch after disconnecting the wire.
Screw in a suitable pressure gauge instead of the oil switch.
If a VAG control device is used, screw the oil switch into the control device.
Attention: This test can be carried out if it is possible to screw the switch into the pressure gauge. Otherwise, only the 0.3 bar oil switch can be tested.
Connect the device with a jumper to ground.
Connect the contact of the switch 0.3 bar with a jumper -A- to the positive terminal of the generator (or with battery positive). In this case, voltage should not be displayed, the control lamp or LED should not light up.
Start the engine and slowly increase its speed.
As soon as the pressure gauge shows 0.75-1.05 bar, voltage should be displayed, or the control lamp should light up. Otherwise, replace the 0.9 bar oil switch.
Oil switch test 0.3 bar
The control pressure gauge remains connected during the test, as with the 0.9 bar oil switch.
Disconnect electrical cable -1- from 0.3 bar oil switch. The switch is located on the left next to the protective tubes of the pushers.
Connect contact -2- of the switch with a jumper and a voltage meter to the positive terminal of the generator (or with battery positive). Voltage must be displayed, otherwise replace the switch.
Start the engine and slowly increase its speed. Observe the pressure gauge.
At a pressure of 0.15 to 0.45 bar, the oil switch should open, the voltage indication should stop (or turn off the control lamp).
Oil pressure check
Start the engine, increase the speed to 2000 rpm. At an oil temperature of +80°C, the oil pressure at these speeds must be at least 2.0 bar.
Low oil pressure is a sign of worn crankshaft bearings.
Screw in oil switch with O-ring and tighten to 30 Nm.
