Immobilizer (VW Tiguan 1)

The Tiguan is equipped with a fourth-generation immobilizer with online connection and download. The most important part of the fourth-generation immobilizer with download is the central database, which contains all theft-relevant data of the individual control units. It is not possible to adapt the control units involved in the immobilizer without an online connection to this database. PIN queries for immobilizer components by fax or by temporary connection are not possible. All components involved in the immobilizer must be taught in online mode. All (including those ordered later) the vehicle keys are pre-coded at the factory and can only be taught to the vehicle. Subsequent key orders are made upon provision of the corresponding chassis number. Adaptation of components from other brands of the Group to Volkswagen vehicles is no longer possible.

Immobilizer components

• Engine control unit "J623"
• Ignition key

Functions of the immobilizer control unit "J362": communication of all components involved in the immobilizer with each other, coding of data between the involved control units.

Fault detection and error indication

The immobilizer is equipped with a self-diagnostic function, which facilitates troubleshooting. To troubleshoot, use one of the testers described in the "Testers" chapter in the "Guided troubleshooting" mode.

Removal and installation of the immobilizer control unit "J362"

The immobilizer control unit -J362- is integrated into the instrument cluster. If the control unit is faulty, the entire instrument cluster must be replaced.

Lost ignition key

All (including those ordered later) the vehicle keys are pre-coded at the factory and can only be taught to the vehicle. Subsequent orders for vehicle keys must be made by presenting the corresponding vehicle chassis number and the new keys must be adapted to the immobilizer control unit "J362".
