2.0 liter engine
Remove the radiator in the following order:
- disconnect the terminal «–» from AB, since when the ignition is on, the wires of the electric fan are energized;
- drain the coolant from the cooling system (see point 5.1.1). To make the coolant flow out faster, remove the expansion tank cap;
- disconnect all air hoses from the radiator;
- disconnect the wires from the terminals of the temperature switch of the fan and the fan motor;

- loosen the top and bottom clamps (pic. 187) coolant hose. Disconnect the hoses from the radiator and take them to the side without bending them;
- disconnect the hose connecting the radiator and the expansion tank;
Note. The hoses are attached with spring clips. To remove the clips, use special cutters with the number 798-5, and when installing, screw clips can be used, in extreme cases, if there are no cutters for installing spring clips.
- remove the front bumper, transverse support beam and grille;

Part of the details of the cooling system of the 2.0-liter engine: 1 - radiator; 2 - radiator casing; 3 - upper coolant hose; 4 - bolt, 10 Nm; 5 - support rod; 6 - lower coolant hose; 7 - fan mounting ring; 8 - cooling system fan; 9 - plug-in block of the temperature switch, black; 10 - temperature switch, 35 Nm
- remove bolts 4 (pic. 182), located on the sides of the radiator and remove the radiator 1 downwards. At the same time, be careful not to damage the radiator cells;
- if necessary, disconnect the casing 2 from the radiator and the fan motor 8 from the casing.
Install the radiator in the reverse order of removal. Then pour coolant into the cooling system (see point 5.1.1).
VR6 engine
Removing the radiator from a car equipped with a VR6 engine is carried out in the same way as with a 2.0-liter engine. However, pay attention to the following points:
- if there is an air conditioner, remove the V-belt of its drive. Unscrew the power steering pump and leave the hoses hanging to one side;
- remove the air conditioning compressor, but in such a way that the pipelines do not open;
Note. Further actions are the same for all engine modifications.
- disconnect the wires from the temperature switch of the fan motor and auxiliary air pump;
- disconnect the inlet hoses and pressure hoses from the pump;
- unscrew the bolts of the fan clamping ring and remove the ring with the fan and additional air pump;
- If you have air conditioning, remove the cooling hose clamps. Remove the air conditioning radiator from the radiator and push it forward as far as possible;
- remove the radiator in the same way as with a 2.0-liter engine. Remove the radiator downwards.
Attention! When removing the radiator, try not to hit it against other parts of the car to avoid damage to the radiator cells (this can lead to radiator leaks).
Install the radiator in the reverse order of removal.
Note. Spring clips during installation should be replaced with screw clips, otherwise you will have to use special wire cutters to install them.
