Position of the inner, intermediate and blocking ring of the 1st gear synchronizer (VW Caddy 3)

Install the inner ring (A) onto the 1st gear, which rotates freely on the shaft.



The bent ends of the projections (arrows!) must face the intermediate ring (B).

Install the spacer ring (B).

The projections (arrows 2) must enter the grooves (arrows 3) of the gear hub.

Install the locking (outer) synchronizer ring (C).

The projections (arrows 1) of the inner ring (A) must enter the grooves (arrows 4) of the blocking ring.

Caution! If parts are not being replaced, ensure they are installed in their original locations.

Checking the wear of the inner synchronizer rings of 1st and 2nd gears

Press the inner ring against the conical part of the gear rotating freely on the shaft and measure the gap "a" using a feeler gauge.

Place the locking (outer) synchronizer ring, as well as the intermediate and inner rings, on the conical part of the gear and measure the gap "a" using a feeler gauge.
