Removal, cleaning and installing the fuel pump mesh filter (VW Beetle)

The pump does not need to be removed to clean the mesh filter. The filter must be cleaned every 15,000 km.

Attention! Observe fire safety precautions!

Removal and cleaning



Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

Clean the outside of the fuel pump with gasoline.

Remove the screw from the pump cover. Remove the cover, take out the mesh filter and gasket.

Clean the filter with gasoline and blow it out with compressed air.

Installation



Insert the mesh filter and new gasket (gray color).

Caution! When using repair kit N 111 198 555 B, do not install the spacer sleeve.


Place the cover on the pump body so that the protrusion on its edge fits into the recess on the body.

Tighten the screw on the pump cover, connect the ground wire to the battery. Check the pump for leaks with the engine running.
