Lapping valves (VW Beetle)

Well-machined valve seats and new valves usually do not require lapping if they pass the leak test.

Apply valve grinding compound to the valve seat in the cylinder head and insert the valve into the guide.

Moisten a rubber sponge and press on the valve plate.



Perform lapping by rotating the valve using a valve grinder.

Caution! To prevent scratches on the seating surfaces, the valve should be frequently lifted and turned smoothly.

After finishing grinding, carefully remove the grinding paste.
