Disassembling and assembling the engine (VW Beetle)

Before disassembling, the removed engine must first be thoroughly cleaned and then disassembled in the sequence described below.

Drain the oil from the engine.

Remove the front engine cover.

Remove the muffler.

Remove the fan housing and generator.

Remove the carburetor.

Remove the intake manifold with the fuel mixture preheating device.

Disconnect the heat exchanger on the left and right.

Remove the generator bracket together with the oil filler neck.

Remove the cylinder covers on the left and right.

Remove the V-belt pulley.

Remove the distributor drive shaft.

Remove the oil radiator.

Remove the cylinder head cover and valve lever shafts.


Remove the cylinder head.

Remove the cylinders and pistons.

Remove the clutch.

Remove the flywheel.

Remove the oil pump and oil filter.

Remove the oil pan.

Remove the camshaft and crankshaft with connecting rods.
