The body of the Passat is a load-bearing four-door vehicle, consisting of a frame and attachments. The body frame includes a base, sidewalls, roof and frame parts, connected to each other by electric welding (point, seam and arc), and is a non-separable structure that is sufficiently rigid and capable of supporting all vehicle units, body attachments, interior units and parts.

The body consists of several parts connected to each other, forming whole parts of the front and rear frames. Individual parts of the body contribute to achieving the ultimate strength of the body, so control the welding during the repair work.

If the factory seal or anti-corrosion coating is destroyed or damaged during repair work, apply an anti-corrosion coating and seal to the lower body parts. When applying an anti-corrosion coating to the lower body parts, use anti-corrosion chrome plating or something similar. The use of combined agents is not recommended.

The transmission lower cover is a single piece of steel that serves to protect the lower portion of the transmission. This cover prevents small rocks, gravel, or other objects from entering the transmission during normal driving conditions.

Please note: Major body repairs, as well as replacement of glued windshields and rear windows, should, as a rule, be carried out at an authorized Nissan dealer service station, where all the necessary equipment and devices are available.

The hinged units include the side doors, hood, tailgate, front fenders, bumpers and radiator grille. The doors, hood and trunk lid are attached to the body using hinges. The front fenders are attached to the body with bolts.

The front and rear bumpers are secured with bolts. The radiator grille is secured with plastic clips and screws.

(The original information is posted on the resource VWmanual)

The windshield is triple-layered, type "Triplex". The door, side and rear windows are tempered. The windshield, rear and side windows are glued into the window openings of the body.

The front seats are separate, with mechanisms for adjusting the tilt of the backrests and moving in the longitudinal direction, with easily removable headrests, adjustable in height. The rear seat has a solid cushion and a backrest divided into two parts by a folding armrest.

The front and rear side seat belts are inertial, and the rear middle passenger lap belt is non-inertial.

The car's interior is equipped with a cigarette lighter, front and rear ashtrays, sun visors, heater, rear-view mirrors, and handrails. There is a mount for a fire extinguisher under the driver's seat.

The vehicle is equipped with front and rear towing eyes.

The ventilation and heating of the passenger compartment are controlled automatically by the controller. If the car is equipped with a climate control system, the controller also controls the microclimate in the passenger compartment automatically.
