Exhaust system design (1.2L petrol engine) (VW Polo 4)

1 - warm air intake
Install without stress.

2 - bolts, 10 Nm

3 - exhaust manifold

4 - oxygen sensor 1, 50 Nm
Before the catalytic converter. Apply G5 grease only to the threads. Do not allow grease to get into the slots. If there is a leak, cut the sealing ring and replace it with a new one.

5 — sealing gasket*

6 - heat shield

For the generator.

8 — bolt, 20 Nm

9 - double clamp

10 - nut, 25 Nm

11 - Front exhaust pipe

12 — suspension cushion
Replace if damaged.

13 — nut*, 40 Nm

14 — oxygen sensor 2, 50 Nm
After the catalytic converter. Apply G052112AZ grease only to the threads. Do not allow grease to get into the slots. If the sealing ring is leaking, cut it and replace it with a new one.

15 — sealing gasket*

16 — bolt, 10 Nm

17 — nut, 25 Nm

*) Always replace.

2 - suspension
For pre-silencer. Ensure correct mounting position.

3 - suspension
For subsequent muffler. Ensure correct mounting position.

4 — suspension
For subsequent muffler. Ensure correct mounting position.

5 - disconnection point
Marked on the connecting pipe with embossing.

Note: The pre-silencer and post-silencer are installed as one part at the factory. However, the silencers can be replaced separately. To do this, cut the connecting pipe at the designated place with a hacksaw at a right angle. When installing, connect the exhaust pipes using a double repair clamp.
