Note: If the muffler cannot be removed from the clamp, there are two ways to remove it. 1st way: cut the exhaust pipe about 5 cm behind the clamp. After that, cut the rest of the pipe along and knock it out with a chisel and a hammer. 2nd method: if you have a gas welding machine, heat the terminal clamp so that it expands and releases the pipe.
Safety note: Before using the gas welding machine, cover the underbody with an aluminum plate. Fire hazard. Prepare a fire extinguisher.
Removal of the one-piece exhaust system with pre-mufflers and after-mufflers
Safety note: There is a risk of accident when lifting the vehicle! You must first read the section «Vehicle lifting».
Raise the car on the goats.
The place of separation is indicated by embossing. Cut the pipe at the central embossings -arrow 2-. The lateral embossings marked with arrows -1- and -3- serve as marks up to which the pipe must be pushed into the clamp clamp -4- during assembly.
Lead the cutter chain at the center embossings -arrow 2- around the exhaust pipe and tighten. Roll the pipe back and forth with the chain and tighten the chain at the same time, but not too much so that the pipe is not deformed at the cut point.
Unhook mufflers from suspension pads and remove.
Installation
Attach mufflers to suspension mounts.
A repair terminal clamp is used to connect the exhaust pipes.
Attention: Always replace a used terminal clamp, do not reinstall. Since exhaust pipes of different diameters are used depending on the model of the car, take care to purchase parts of the correct size.
Align the exhaust system see previous chapter.
Tighten the clamps. Tightening torque for car:
- with petrol engine: 25 Nm;
- with diesel engine: 40 Nm.
