Front body panel fastening elements

- 1 - hood opening lock bracket,
- 2 - bolts 6 pcs., 50 Nm,
- 3 - bolt 50 Nm,
- 4 - bolts 2 pcs., 10 Nm,
- 5 - seal,
- 6 - flexible cable,
- 7 - mounting hole,
- 8 - bolts 2 pcs., 10 Nm,
- 9 - hole for special tool VW-3369

Removal
1. Remove the engine sound deadening cover.
2. Remove the headlights with front turn signals.
3. Disconnect the flexible cable from the hood release latch.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the front bumper.
6. Unscrew the side guide brackets from the fenders.
7. Disconnect the hoses from the engine air heat exchanger.
8. Drain the coolant from the cooling system and disconnect the cooling system hoses.
Warning: Do not allow the air conditioning condenser and oil heat exchanger to hang from the lines. Also, do not bend the lines.
9. Air conditioner. Unscrew the condenser from the bracket and, without disconnecting the pipes from it, tie it to the engine compartment with soft wire.
10. Unscrew the power steering oil heat exchanger from the front panel and, using soft wire, tie it to the engine compartment, see Fig. Location of the power steering oil heat exchanger mounting bolts.
11. Unscrew the upper (4) and side (8) bolts securing the front panel, see Fig. Fastening elements of the front body panel.
12. Remove the seal from both sides at the top of the front panel.
13. Have an assistant support the front panel.
14. Remove the bolts securing the front panel to the side members.
15. Pull the front panel forward to remove it.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
2. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
3. Check and, if necessary, adjust the headlights.
Adjusting the hood lock bracket
Install the hood lock bracket so that the distance between it and the right and left fenders of the car are the same. If the fenders or hood were replaced, first center the installed parts relative to the car axis.
