Brake lines and hoses (VW Golf 4)

Brake pipes are used to transfer brake fluid from the master brake cylinder to the wheel brake cylinders. The pipes are connected to the brake cylinders and distributors using cone couplings. The ends of the pipes are crimped and have a cone shape for the corresponding size of the cone threaded holes in the brake cylinders or distributors.

Before crimping the ends of the tubes, a lock nut is placed on them, which, after screwing the conical surface into the conical base of the threaded hole, presses and seals the tube.

Brake hoses provide movable connections between the moving and fixed parts of the car. To reduce the loss of brake fluid when removing the working brake cylinders, clamps are used to squeeze the brake hoses.

Execution order

1. When installing a new brake pipe or brake hose, make sure it is securely fastened in the brackets and is kept away from moving or hot parts.

2. After installation is complete, check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder and add fluid if necessary.

3. Bleed the brake system and carefully test the brakes before operating the vehicle.
