The brake light switch is fixed in the brake pedal bracket. When the brake pedal is pressed, the switch turns on the brake light in the rear lights of the car. In addition, the brake light switch transmits a signal about the start of braking to the ABS/EDS control unit.
Removal
1. Remove the cover from the driver's footwell.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake light switch.
3. Turn the brake light switch (1) 90° counterclockwise and remove it from the bracket.
Installation and adjustment
1. Check the functionality of the brake light switch.
2. Pull the control plunger completely out of the brake light switch housing.
3. Press the brake pedal and in this pedal position, insert the brake light switch into the bracket and turn it 90° clockwise.

4. Release the brake pedal, which will automatically adjust the brake light switch.
5. Connect the electrical connector to the brake light switch.
6. Check the operation of the brake light switch. Even with a slight press on the brake pedal, the brake lights should light up.
7. Install the cover in the driver's footwell.
