Coolant temperature sensor on all engines (except for the 1.8L engine with fuel injection system) is located in the exhaust manifold at the rear end of the cylinder head. On the 1.8L fuel-injected engine, the sensor is located in the exhaust manifold on the side of the cylinder head.
For the procedure for replacing the sensor, see chapter "Engine electrical equipment". When installing the sensor, use a new gasket.
Please note that since August 1978, vehicles have been equipped with sensors designed for a higher normal coolant temperature.
