Coolant temperature sensor on all engines (except 1.8L engine with fuel injection system) located in the exhaust pipe at the rear end of the cylinder head. On a 1.8L engine with a fuel injection system, the sensor is located in the exhaust pipe on the side of the cylinder head.
To replace the sensor, see chapter "Engine electrical equipment". Use a new gasket when installing the sensor.
Remember that since August 1978, sensors have been installed on cars that are designed for a higher normal coolant temperature.
