1. In order to determine the presence of a spark, unscrew the spark plugs, insert them into the plug and apply them in series to the mass. In this case, it is not recommended to hold the plug by hand. Well-insulated pliers must be used. With assistance, turn the engine over with the starter.
2. If there is no spark, see subsection 2.14.8.
3. On diesel engines, check the glow plug system.
Attention! When diagnosing, pay attention to the safety instructions for handling electronic ignition systems (see subsection 2.14.2).
Cause | Elimination Method |
Engine starts poorly or does not start at all
Gas engine | |
Errors at startup | Turn the ignition key and start until the engine starts, then release the ignition key. During starting, the clutch pedal must be depressed. Don't give gas. |
Only with a hot engine after starting add a little gas.
diesel engine | |
Errors at startup | On a cold engine: Pull the cold start accelerator flap all the way out. Switch on the ignition for a while until the preglow indicator lamp goes out. Squeeze out the clutch. Immediately after turning off the control lamp, start the engine, do not press the gas. Once the engine is up to operating temperature, push down the cold start accelerator choke all the way down. If the engine engages irregularly when starting, continue to turn the starter (Max. 1/2 min.), until the engine starts up on its own. If the engine does not start, pre-heat again and start again as described. |
With a warm engine: no pre-heating required. The engine can be started immediately.
Fuse defective: | Check fuses (see subsection 10.10). |
– electric fuel pump | |
– electronic fuel injection system
– preheating systems | |
Faulty engine power system
Dirty, fuel line kinked, clogged filter | Check the engine power system according to the troubleshooting. |
Starter turns too slowly | Charge the battery. If seasonal oil is filled in, it is necessary to fill in winter oil in the cold season. Check starter. |
Compression pressure too low | Check the hydraulic pushers, sort out the engine. |
Faulty operation of the gas distribution mechanism | Check the timing mechanism, check the tension of the toothed belt. |
Broken cylinder head gasket | Replace gasket. |
