Removing
Set cylinder 1 to top dead center.
Remove the ignition distributor.
Remove fuel pump.
Pull the spring out of the drive shaft.
Pull out the drive shaft using two filed screwdrivers or using a welding electrode and a conventional internal puller.
Carefully remove the washers under the drive shaft. With the engine installed, it is best to do this with a magnet, with the engine removed, by turning the engine 180°. It is possible to make a hook out of wire to insure washers so that they do not fall into the engine.
Installation
Before installation, check the wear of the helical teeth. Replace worn washers.
Set cylinder 1 to top dead center. To do this, while moving the car with the gear engaged, align the mark on the belt pulley with the connection line of the two halves of the engine crankcase.
Carefully insert the washers under the shaft using a screwdriver.
The offset spline in the head of the drive shaft of the ignition distributor must face the threaded hole or the bolt -arrow-. The small segment should face the water pump.
Insert the welding wire, and then push the spring onto it.
Install fuel pump.
Install the ignition distributor.
