Checking and adjusting the air damper gap size (VW Transporter T3)

The size of the air damper gap should be adjusted during carburetor overhaul if the engine has poor intake and transient disturbances.

Examination

Remove the air filter.

Disassemble the automatic engine starting system.



Remove the air damper.

Remove the vacuum diaphragm rod with a screwdriver until it stops. In this position, check the gap size with a drill rod. For the specified value, see Table "Basic data of the carburetor".

If necessary, adjust the air damper gap size with the adjusting screw (arrow).

Assemble the automatic engine starting system.
