Checking and adjusting the shut-off damper and the slow-down valve (VW Transporter T3)

Oil temperature not less than 60°C.

Start the engine at idle speed.

Press the adjustment lever against the adjusting screw with your hand (white arrow).

Check the speed and, if necessary, remove the seal and adjust the speed. Specified value: 1300±100 rpm.

After adjustment, seal the adjustment screw with a blue cap.

Increase the speed to 3000 rpm, while the adjustment lever of the locking damper moves towards the adjusting screw (arrow).

Release the throttle lever. The setting lever should slowly move away from the adjusting screw and the throttle valve should close after about 3 seconds.

Note: Installation position of the retard valve: the side facing the carburetor.
