Checking and adjusting the air damper gap size (VW Transporter T3)

The air damper gap size adjustment is performed after a complete carburetor overhaul or in case of poor engine performance and transient process disturbances. A vacuum control device is required to adjust the air damper gap size.

Remove the engine starter cover.

Operate the throttle valve and turn the step washer "1" so that the adjusting screw "2" is on the step of the washer.

Using adjusting screw "1", press the air damper rod all the way towards the Pulldown membrane.

In this position, check the size of the air damper gap, if necessary, adjust with screw "1". For the specified value, see Table "Basic data of the carburetor".
