Checking and adjusting the idle speed of a cold engine (VW Transporter T3)

The throttle gap can also be adjusted using the idle speed of a cold engine. This has the advantage that there is no need to remove the carburetor for adjustment. The idle speed of a cold engine should be checked when the engine response is insufficient.

The carburetor cannot be removed.

Oil temperature not less than 60°C.

Idle speed adjustment is OK.

The ignition timing adjustment is ok.

Remove the air filter.

Start the engine.

Give gas and thereby open the throttle valve, bringing the engine speed to approximately 2500 rpm. Press the stepped washer "1" until the stop "arrow" down and release the gas (the adjusting screw is on the second highest step of the stepped washer).
