Checking the idle air cut-off valve (VW Transporter T3)

The idle cut-off valve stops the supply of idle mixture and additional mixture to the mixing chamber when the ignition is switched off. This prevents the engine from continuing to run due to glow ignition when switched off. If the valve is defective, the engine will not start.

Examination



Turn on the ignition and disconnect and connect the electrical wire to the valve several times. You should hear the valve click.

Unscrew the valve and place it on the ground (on the engine). Connect the valve terminal to the positive terminal of the battery using an auxiliary wire.

Insert a 3-4 mm pin from the front of the valve. The core must be retracted, otherwise replace the valve or check the wiring.

To remove the idle shut-off valve, service stations use a special tool VW 3064. The valve can also be unscrewed with a pipe wrench, firmly grasping the valve with the wrench.
