Pic. 5.35. Vane Pump Components:
1 - hollow bolt, 40 Nm; 2 - sealing rings, 16x22; 3 - pressure hose; 4 - suction hose; 5 - spring clamp; 6 - vane pump; 7 - adjusting washer; 8 - belt pulley; 9 - screw with hexagon socket, 25 Nm; 10 - hex bolt, 25 Nm; 11 - holder.
Repair work for the vane pump is not provided. In the event of a malfunction, its cause is determined by a hydraulic test and a leak test. In the event of a malfunction, the impeller pump must be replaced.
NOTE: If there is no fluid in the reservoir, check the entire steering system for leaks. In the event of leaks in the pipeline connection area, first of all check the pipelines and their connections for tightness, if necessary, tighten and wipe dry. Pumps from the spare parts warehouse are not filled with oil. Therefore, before installation, be sure to fill with hydraulic oil G 002 000 and turn by hand, otherwise running noises or damage to the pump may occur.
NOTE: Replace o-rings. Do not reuse the drained oil.
Removing
Remove the engine noise shield.
Mark the running direction of the V-ribbed belt.
Screw the M8x50 bolt into the threaded hole of the tension roller just enough to loosen the V-ribbed belt.
Loosen the vane pump pulley. Remove poly V-belt (pic. 5.36).
NOTE: Pay attention to the shim underneath when removing the pulley. It is important for measuring and adjusting the vane pump. Do not remove the adjusting washer from the vane pump wheel yet.
Clamp the suction hose with hose clamp 3094 (pic. 5.37).
Unscrew the hollow bolt.
Seal the pressure pipe with polyethylene or similar.
Open the spring clip and remove the suction hose from the vane pump.
Unscrew and remove the vane pump.
Measure the distance a (pic. 5.38).
The measurement takes into account the thickness of the shim. Record the measured value.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order, paying attention to the following.
Measure dimension a on a new impeller pump without shim.
Write down the measured value.
Determine the thickness of the shim.
Fill the vane pump with hydraulic oil. Pour oil through the suction port of the vane pump.
Turn the hub by hand until oil comes out on the pressure side.
Install impeller pump.
Bleed the steering system.
Check the hydraulic fluid level in the hydraulic system.
Check the steering system for leaks.
Determination of shim thickness
Use the measured values to determine the thickness of the shim.
Example:
The measurement result of the old vane pump with shim is 33.65 mm.
The measurement result of a new vane pump without shim is 32.85 mm.
Adjusting washer thickness: 33.65-32.85=0.80 mm.
The following shims are available: Thickness (mm): 0,6; 0,8; 1,0; 1,2; 1,4.
Install impeller pump.
Tightening torques
Vane pump to mount - 25 Nm.
Pulley to the vane pump - 25 Nm.
Hollow bolt to vane pump - 40 Nm.
