Caution: Before removing, mark the direction of travel and the top side of the new belt. When installing, observe the correct direction of movement and the position of the sides of the belt. Reversing the running direction or sides of a previously used V-ribbed belt will damage it!
Remove poly V-belt. Unscrew both fixing screws -1- and fixing nut -2- of the fuel filter -3- and place them aside. The fuel hoses can still be connected.
Unscrew both securing bolts for air conditioner compressor -arrows-.
Unlock and unplug electrical connector -1-. Unscrew the third securing bolt -arrow- and remove the compressor from the accessory bracket from below.
Note: Air conditioner compressor hoses can remain connected. Fasten compressor -3- before installation with tie wire -1- in a suitable place under the vehicle. Make sure hoses -2- are not stretched or bent when doing this.
Unlock and unplug shunt wire connector -1-. Remove protective cap -2-.
Loosen securing nut -1- and detach wire B+ behind it from alternator connection thread. Unscrew the fixing nut -3- and remove the cable holder -2- from the alternator.
Remove alternator mounting bolts -arrows-. Remove the alternator from the bottom of the engine compartment.
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following.
Caution: When installing a previously used V-ribbed belt, observe the direction of travel marked during removal! Before installing the V-ribbed belt, make sure that all units (alternator, air conditioning compressor, vane pump) were securely installed. When laying the belt, make sure that the V-ribbed belt is correctly positioned on the pulleys!
Carefully drive threaded bushings -A- approx. 4 mm in -direction of arrow- out of alternator housing.
Screw the cable holder -arrow- on the reverse side of the alternator at the 3 o'clock position.
Tighten screw connections to the specified tightening torques. Connect battery. Start engine and check belt movement. Turn off the engine.
