Removal
1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
2. Remove the cover on the crankshaft damper.
3. Rotate the crankshaft until mark 1 on the flywheel aligns with the mark on the intermediate flange (arrow) (figure 4.26).

4. Install key 3447 on the central bolt of the damper and, holding the crankshaft from rotating, unscrew the camshaft gear mounting bolt and remove it (figure 4.27).

5. Loosen the crankshaft bearing cap bolts, starting from the center ones.
6. Remove the camshaft.
Installation
7. Lubricate the contact surfaces of the camshaft.
8. Set the camshaft to the TDC position of the piston of the 1st cylinder (the valve cams of the 1st cylinder should be directed upwards).
9. Lock the camshaft from rotating by installing locking device 3445 on the cams of the 4th cylinder (figure 4.28).

10. Install the camshaft gear and tighten its mounting bolt by hand.
11. Remove locking device 3445.
12. Install the cover on the crankshaft damper.
13. Install key 3447 on the central bolt of the damper and. while holding the crankshaft from rotating, tighten the camshaft gear mounting bolt to 180 Nm.

14. Remove key 3447.
15. Tighten the cover mounting bolts on the crankshaft damper to 10 Nm.
16. Install the cylinder head cover.
