1. If you feel a slight knock when riding on an uneven surface, the worm gear and the roller's backlash may need adjustment.

2. To do this, lift the front of the car so that the wheels are off the ground.

3. Set the steering gear to the center position as described in Section 25.

4. Using a suitable tool, remove the connecting rod from the lever on the steering box.

5. Now turn the steering wheel half a turn.

6. Loosen the locking nut of the adjusting screw on the steering box and back off the adjusting screw one turn.

7. Squeeze the lever. Push it back and forth and turn the adjusting screw until the roller shaft axial play disappears.

8. Without changing the screw installation position, tighten the locking nut.

9. If you now turn the steering wheel another eighth of a turn, the lever will have a small axial play. This is how it should be.

10. Connect the link rod, tighten the lock nut to the required degree and insert the new double pin.
