Steering wheel — removal and installation (VW Lt 28)

1. Center the steering wheel so that the front wheels are straight ahead.

2. Remove the horn button from the center of the steering wheel hub. Do not try to crawl under the metal socket (see photo 25.2).

3. Disconnect the ground wire (see photo 25.3).

4. Loosen the steering wheel nut.

5. Remove the wheel from the splined shaft (see photo 25.5).

6. Remove the small coil spring.

7. Installation is carried out by performing the above steps in reverse order. If you have any doubts about the steering wheel alignment, check that the notch on the pinion shaft dust cover is aligned with the lug on the steering box (see Figure 11.36).

8. Tighten the steering wheel nut to the required degree.
