2. Using the appropriate tool, disconnect the connecting rod from the lever at the steering box.
3. Remove the two bolts that secure the cotter pin end of the pinion to the flexible joint at the base of the steering column.

4. Disconnect the steering column from the side of the chassis and remove it from the vehicle.
5. The steering box cannot be repaired, and spare parts for it are not offered; you can only replace it entirely.

6. The lever should be removed after unscrewing its through bolt, so that it can then be transferred to the new box.
7. Steering boxes on LT 28, 31 and 35 models are shipped sealed and filled with grease. The steering boxes on the LT 40 and 45 models are supplied "dry" and must be filled after installation on the vehicle.
8. Refitting is done by reversing the above steps, but note that the lever and its cotter pinned shaft have a cotter pin and slot to ensure correct fit on the LT 28, 31 and 35 models, while the LT 40 and 45 models have engraved marks that should be aligned according to which side the handlebar is on (on the right or on the left), and as shown in Figure 11.42.

9. Make sure the steering wheel and transmission are properly centered before connecting the flexible joint and cotter pin, and don't forget the ground wire.
