Releasing the airbag on the three-spoke steering wheel

Releasing the airbag on the four-spoke steering wheel

Removing
1. Switch off ignition and remove a wire of weight from the accumulator.
2. Insulate the ground wire to avoid accidentally connecting it to the battery.
3. Set the car's front wheels to drive straight ahead. In this case, the steering wheel should be in the middle position.
4. Turn the steering wheel 90°counterclockwise.
5. Unlock the steering column, see fig. Unlocking the steering column.
6. Move the steering wheel all the way towards you and down.
7. Fix the position of the steering wheel.
8. Release the airbag, for which, from the back of the steering wheel, insert a 175 mm screwdriver blade into the hole in the steering wheel, see fig. Releasing the airbag on the three-spoke steering wheel and fig. Releasing the airbag on the four-spoke steering wheel.
9. By moving the handle of the screwdriver upwards, use the blade of the screwdriver to press down the latch 10 and release the fixing clip 3 of the airbag. Move the airbag away from the steering wheel.
10. Turn the steering wheel 180°clockwise and release the airbag from the second retaining clip in the same way.
11. Set the steering wheel to the middle position. In this case, the wheels will be set for rectilinear movement.
12. Disconnect the airbag single-pin electrical connector.
13. Remove the airbag.
Warning: Do not change the position of the steering wheel.
Installation
1. Move the airbag to the steering wheel and connect the airbag 1-pin connector.
2. Install the airbag on the steering wheel so that the fixing clips are positioned against the holes. Being careful, press down on the airbag until it locks into place.
3. Connect the ground wire to the battery, while there should not be people in the car.
