Removal



1. Before removing the airbag, perform the following steps.

2. Turn off the ignition and remove the ground wire from the battery. When removing the ground wire from the battery, there should be no people in the car.

3. Insulate the wire connected to the negative battery terminal to avoid accidental connection of the wire.

4. Disconnect the single-pin electrical connector that supplies power to the airbag system.

5. Set the front wheels to move straight ahead, with the steering wheel in the center position.



Warning: Failure to comply with the above requirements may result in damage to the airbag system.


6. Turn the steering wheel 90° counterclockwise.

7. Unlock the steering column.

8. Move the steering wheel all the way towards you and down.

9. Fix the position of the steering wheel.

10. Release the airbag by inserting a 175mm long screwdriver blade into the steering wheel hole from the back of the steering wheel (see figure Releasing the airbag on a three-spoke steering wheel and figure Releasing the airbag on a four-spoke steering wheel).

11. Moving the screwdriver handle upwards (arrow) (see figure Releasing the airbag on a three-spoke steering wheel and figure Releasing the airbag on a four-spoke steering wheel), use a screwdriver blade to press down the retainer 9 and release the retaining clip 3 of the airbag.

12. Move the airbag away from the steering wheel.

13. Turn the steering wheel 180° clockwise and release the airbag from the second retaining clip in the same way.

14. Set the steering wheel to the center position. This will set the wheels to move straight ahead.


15. Disconnect the single-pin airbag electrical connector.

16. Remove the airbag.

17. Do not change the position of the steering wheel.

Installation



1. Move the airbag to the steering wheel and connect the airbag one-pin connector.

2. Install the airbag onto the steering wheel so that the retaining clips are positioned opposite the holes.

3. Carefully press down on the airbag until it locks into place.

4. Connect the ground wire to the battery, making sure there are no people in the car.
