Removal



Instructions: Removal and installation of the airbag are described for the case of a multifunctional steering wheel. Work should be carried out using a screwdriver about 175 mm long with a tip width of 7 mm.


Remove the negative terminal from the battery. Set the steering wheel to the uppermost position. Pull the steering wheel toward you to the extreme position. Turn the steering wheel to the position shown in the figure. Insert the screwdriver until it stops (about 8 mm) into the hole on the back of the steering wheel. Turn the screwdriver towards the driver's door "arrow" and thus unlock the airbag retainer on the right side of the steering wheel. Turn the steering wheel 180° and unlock the airbag retainer on the left side of the steering wheel as described above. Turn the steering wheel 90° back to the middle position. Remove the airbag from the steering wheel,

Remove the negative terminal from the battery. Set the steering wheel to the uppermost position.…


CAUTION: Electrostatic discharges can cause the airbags to deploy unintentionally. Therefore, before disconnecting the squib wires and ground wire, the mechanic must relieve the electrostatic charge. To do this, you can touch, for example, the unpainted metal part of the door lock.




Unlock the lock and disconnect connector "1".

Instruction: This connector is only installed on the multifunction steering wheel.


Move in the direction of the arrow to unlock the airbag connector "2" and disconnect it.

Installation



Check if the wiring harness "3" is routed as shown in the figure. Connect the airbag connector "2" to the block. The airbag connector should click into place. Connect the connector "1" to the block. Press the airbag into the steering wheel. Check that the airbag is secured on the right and left sides of the steering wheel.

Check if the wiring harness «3» is routed as shown in the figure. Connect the airbag connector «2»…


Turn on the ignition. Connect the negative terminal to the battery.
