Electrically adjustable exterior mirrors (VW Passat B4)

Some vehicles are equipped with electrically operated outside rearview mirrors on both front doors, controlled by a switch on the driver's door that has two positions: L for adjusting the left door mirror and R for adjusting the right door mirror. The mirrors have heating elements that are activated by the rear window heating element switch. The electrical circuit for adjusting the mirrors is shown in Fig. 8-30.
