Features of the body structure (VW Passat B4)

The body of a sedan or station wagon is all-metal, welded, load-bearing structure. There are five seats, including the driver. The overall dimensions of the body are shown in Fig. 9-1. The car interior is equipped with a dashboard with controls, instrumentation, a radio, and other comfort elements. The seats can be adjusted to ensure the comfort of passengers and the driver. Interior lighting is provided by front and rear lamps. There are windshield washers and wipers for cleaning the glass, and the rear window is dried by an electric heating element if it fogs up. The lowering windows can be manual or electric, depending on the configuration. The door and fuel filler flap locks can be locked manually, automatically, or with a remote control. The desired microclimate in the interior is maintained by a ventilation and heating system, and on some cars, a climate control system with manual or automatic control, which can operate in manual or automatic control mode.



To adjust the position of the steering wheel, unlock the steering wheel by pulling the handle under the steering wheel on the steering shaft. Set the steering wheel to the desired position. Lock the position of the steering wheel by pressing the handle.
