Maintenance

Petrol engines should be serviced every 15,000 km or at least once a year. Diesel engines should be serviced every 7,500 km. Under severe operating conditions, such as city and short-distance driving, frequent mountain driving, trailer towing and dusty road conditions, service should be performed every 5,000 km.
  • Engine: change oil and filter.
  • Fuel filter: remove water (diesel engine only).
  • Disc brake pads: check thickness.

Service

Maintenance must be carried out at the following intervals: every 12 months - for items marked with the "•" sign, and every 30,000 km - for all maintenance items marked with the "•" and "■" signs.

Note: During checks at the VW PASSAT workshop, the fault code memory in the electronic systems of the engine, gearbox and air conditioning system is also interrogated. Therefore, it makes sense to regularly visit a specialist workshop, even when servicing is performed independently.
