Regardless of which tires are installed, one must always remember: at temperatures near the freezing point, a water film forms on the ice. It reduces traction even with the best winter tires, and this is dangerous.
With regard to tire sizes, it is recommended to use narrow winter tires whenever possible. First of all, this is due to cost: narrower tires are cheaper than wide ones. For the money saved, you can buy rims that are universally suitable, because regular rearrangements in spring and autumn are much more expensive.
Winter tires can be fitted in the following sizes:
- 145 R13 on rims 4 1/2 J x 13 (only for models "Golf" with a 1.5 liter engine and a power of 37 kW);
- 155 R13 for rims 5 J x 13 (for all models);
- 175 70 R13 for rims 5 J x 13 (for models "Golf" with a 1.5 liter engine and a power of 37 kW):
- 175 70 R13 for rims 5 1/2 J x 13 (only for models "Golf GTD");
