  • Electric Fan Temperature Sensor — Check
            0

The temperature sensor must be checked if the fan does not turn on when the engine is hot. Check condition: the coolant thermostat, radiator and cooling system plug are in good condition.

The fan temperature sensor is located on the right at the middle height of the radiator (see Fig. Radiator and fan). The temperature sensor has two switching stages. At high temperature it switches on the fan at full speed.

Examination

1. Check fuse #19, replace if necessary.

2. Check if the radiator is hot in the area of the temperature sensor.

3. Disconnect the plug from the temperature sensor. On the cable plug, first connect the terminal (+) to terminal 1 (red/black cable), the fan should run at low speed. Then connect terminal (+) to terminal 2 (red/white cable), the fan should run at high speed (see table 1). If the fan works in both cases, replace the temperature sensor.

4. If the fan does not work or works only at one speed, check the wiring according to the electrical diagram. Check the contacts and reliability of the connections, check the switch relay, replace if necessary.

5. Temperature sensor tightening torque: 25 Nm.

6. Check the operation of the new temperature sensor. Warm up the engine while driving and let it idle until the electric fan turns on.
