4-cylinder engine
Removal
1. Drain the coolant.
2. Remove the thermostat.
3. Unscrew the V-belt pulley bolts by squeezing and holding the V-belt.
4. Remove the V-belt.
5. Loosen the hose clamp on the water pump body.
6. Remove the hoses.
7. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the pump.
8. If the pump bearing is damaged or leaking, replace the entire water pump.
Installation
1. Install the water pump with a new sealing ring and tighten to 20 Nm.
Caution! If only the paper gasket or the bearing housing together with the gear has been replaced, tighten the bearing housing to a torque of 10 Nm. In doing so, do not tighten the screws too much under any circumstances.
2. Install the thermostat.
3. Put on the hoses and secure with clamps.
4. Screw on the V-belt pulley.
5. Install the V-belt.
6. Fill with coolant.
7. After a test run, check the tightness of the hoses and water pump.
5-cylinder engine
Removal
The water pump is located at the front of the cylinder block and is driven by a toothed belt.

1. Drain the coolant.
2. Remove the timing belt.
3. Unscrew the water pump and remove it.
Installation
1. Replace the sealing ring, screw on the water pump and tighten the screws to 20 Nm.
2. Install the timing belt.
3. Fill with coolant.
4. After the test run, check the water pump for leaks.
