Checking the power supply of the pumps (petrol engine) (VW Touareg 1)

Check the power supply to each fuel pump individually as follows.

Reconnect all disconnected fuel hoses.

Connect the VAG 1715 multimeter with a current clamp to the wire of the 4-pin plug pin 1 (fig. 2.318) from the wiring harness to the right fuel delivery module.



Start the engine and let it idle.

Measure the power consumption of the fuel pump. Specified value: max. 11 A.

If the current consumption is greater than the specified value, the right fuel pump is faulty and the fuel delivery module should be replaced.

Perform the same test on the left fuel delivery module.

If the consumed current is greater than the specified one:

The left fuel pump is faulty, the fuel delivery module must be replaced.

NOTE: If the error in the fuel system occurs only from time to time, the check can also be carried out during a test drive, but this will require a second specialist.
