When turning the engine with the high voltage wires removed, some elements of the fuel injection and ignition systems may fail. To avoid this, before carrying out repair and maintenance work on the ignition system, do the following:
  • on a 2.0L engine, turn off the ignition and disconnect the three-pin connector from the high-voltage transformer and the engine speed sensor connector;

  • on the VR6 engine, disconnect the five-pin plug connector (Fig. 212) from the high voltage transformer.

When performing repair work, it is necessary to strictly observe safety precautions. If the checks described below do not give any results, then you should contact a service station to check the ignition system using the ECU memory device.
