The ignition output stage is mounted on the 2.0 liter engine and the VR6 engine on the top cover of the high voltage transformer.
It contains a transistor that turns on and off the flow of electric current to the ignition coil, without involving the computer. The transistor is turned on by a signal from the Hall sensor or the engine speed sensor, as soon as the ECU correctly determines the ignition timing.
