1. It is better not to disassemble the distributor unless necessary. If it is heavily worn, it is recommended to replace the distributor assembly.
2. Before overhauling the distributor, you should check whether spare parts for it are available for sale.
3. Remove the distributor. Remove the distributor cap and rotor.
4. Remove the capacitor and breaker contacts from the distributor.
5. Remove the diaphragm mounting screws and the E-clip securing the diaphragm link to the pivot post on the support plate.
6. Tilt the diaphragm and pull it out of the distributor together with the rod.
7. Loosen the screws securing the support plate to the distributor housing and remove the support plate.
8. You can replace weakened or broken centrifugal ignition regulator weight springs individually, but if the distributor shaft or its bushings are worn out, you will have to replace the distributor assembly.
9. Apply a little motor oil to the pivot pins of the weights and assemble the distributor in the reverse order of its assembly.
