Note: Excessive fuel consumption and poor engine performance are not necessarily the result of a faulty fuel system or carburetor. Before attempting to diagnose a fault using the chart below, you should check that the ignition system is in good condition and properly adjusted, the tire pressure is correct, the brakes are not sticking, and the engine is in good mechanical condition.

Excessive fuel consumptionLeak from fuel tank, pump or fuel lines
Flooding of the float chamber
The air filter is clogged
The preheating system for the air entering the air purifier does not work well
The carburetor is incorrectly adjusted
The automatic choke does not work well
General wear of the carburetor.
Insufficient fuel supplyLow fuel in the fuel tank
The fuel filter is clogged
The fuel pump is faulty
Leak in the fuel line on the inlet side of the pump.
Too lean mixtureAir leaking into the intake manifold or carburetor
Air filter missing
The carburetor is poorly adjusted or the jets are clogged.
Popping sounds in the exhaust systemAir leakage into the exhaust manifold
Malfunction of the exhaust gas afterburning system
Incorrect mixture composition
One of the exhaust valves is burnt or does not fit well on the seat.
