Gearbox — removal (VW Caddy 3)

Caution! After turning off the ignition, disconnect the ground connection from the battery.


1. Remove the engine cover.

2. Remove the air filter housing.

3. Remove the battery together with the casing and bracket.

4. Remove the lock washer from the gear shift cable (1) from the gear shift lever (A).

5. Remove the lock washer from the gear selector cable (2) from the gear selector lever (B).

6. Remove both cables from the pivots.

7. Remove the lock washer (3) from the gear selector lever (B) and remove the lever itself.

8. To remove the gear shift lever (A), remove the nut (4).

9. Remove the cable mounting bracket from the gearbox by unscrewing the screws (arrows).

10. Tie the ropes.

11. Remove the pipe (A) from the bracket on the gearbox (B).



12. Remove the working cylinder by unscrewing the screws (arrows) and secure it with a wire to the wall. Do not disconnect the pipe (A).

13. Disconnect the ground wire from the upper starter screw (1).

14. Disconnect the connector (2) and cable (3) from the starter.

15. Remove the upper powertrain mounting screws.

16. Then remove the upper mounting screw from the starter.

17. Remove the fillers from the top edge of the left and right wings.

18. Remove the noise-insulating casing and the left fender liner.

19. Secure the power unit before removing it.

20. Turn off the reversing light (3).

21. Remove the wiring bracket (2) and unscrew the nut (1).

22. Remove the starter.

23. Remove the drive shaft protective cover (arrows).

24. Disconnect the exhaust system and the front exhaust system bracket from the frame (arrows).

25. Disconnect the drive shafts from the gearbox and move them as high as possible.

26. Remove the flywheel shield (A) from behind the right flange of the gearbox (arrows).
