Measuring the protrusion of pistons from the cylinder block at TDC (VW Caddy 3)

When installing new pistons or replacing the cylinder block assembly, it is necessary to check the piston protrusion at TDC. The appropriate gasket is selected based on the protrusion amount (see the table below).

If the protrusion in the cylinders is different, the largest protrusion value should be taken into account when selecting a gasket.

Caution! When setting the piston to the TDC position, the crankshaft should be rotated clockwise to measure the protrusion.
