1.9L Diesel Engine: Removal and Installation (VW Polo 4)

Removal

Remove the lower engine compartment cover.

ATD/AXR/ASZ Engine (100/130 hp): remove the front trim right wheel arch.



If there is no air conditioning compressor: loosen the tension of the poly V-belt. To do this, place an open-end wrench on the upper projection of the tensioner and tilt the tensioner in the direction of the arrow. Turn the tensioner until you can insert a VW-T10060 pin or a 5 mm drill shank, or a 4 mm Allen key, respectively. This locks the tensioner.

If there is an air conditioning compressor: loosen the tension of the poly V-belt. To do this, place a ring spanner on the central bolt of the tensioner and tilt the tensioner in the direction of the arrow. Turn the tensioner until you can insert a VW-T10060 pin or a 5 mm drill shank, or a 4 mm Allen key, respectively. This locks the tensioner.



Remove the poly V-belt.

Installation

Installation is performed in reverse order. Before installation, check that all units are securely fastened (generator, air conditioning compressor).

If there is no air conditioning compressor: lastly place the poly V-belt on the generator pulley.

If there is an air conditioning compressor: the poly V-belt should be placed last on the air conditioning compressor pulley.
