Removing
Remove the lower engine compartment cover.
Remove connecting pipe from intake manifold/charge air cooler and mass air flow meter.
Loosen poly V-belt tension. To do this, attach an open-end wrench to the upper lug of the tensioning element and deflect the tensioning element in the direction of the arrow.
Turn the tensioning element until it is possible to insert the pin VW-T10060 or the shank of a drill with a diameter of 5 mm, or, respectively, a key with an external hexagon of 4 mm. Due to this, the tension element is locked.
Remove poly V-belt.
Installation
Attention: If auxiliary units were removed with the V-ribbed belt removed, then before applying the belt, it is necessary to check the strength of their fastening.
Note: If a used belt is installed, it must be ensured that it is moving in the same direction.
Place the V-ribbed belt over the pulleys, starting with the crankshaft pulley and ending with the alternator or air conditioning compressor pulley.
Turn the tensioning element slightly clockwise, remove the lock and tilt the tensioning element back.
Check that the V-ribbed belt is tight on all pulleys.
