1. AGP, AQM engines
1. Disconnect the wiring connector (arrow) from the intake manifold switching valve (Fig. 7.65).

2. Measure the resistance between the valve contacts (Fig. 7.66). Specific resistance: 25.0-45.0 Ohm.

3. If the specified value is not reached, replace the air duct connecting pipe with the intake manifold switching valve.
4. If the specified value is reached, connect the wiring connectors to pins 1 and 2 and measure the voltage (Fig. 7.67). Start the engine and let it idle. Specification: at least 4.5 V.

5. Turn off the ignition. The voltage value should drop to 0 V after about 3 seconds.
6. If the voltage does not change as required, connect the VAG 1598/22 tester to the engine control unit wiring harness (fig. 7.38).
7. Check the wire between the tester and the connector for open circuit: contact 1 and socket 2, contact 1 and socket 28, contact 2 and socket 15 (Fig. 7.67). Specified value: 1.5 Ohm.
8. Additionally, check the wires for short circuits to each other, to the vehicle ground, and to the positive battery terminal. Specification resistance: ∞ Ohm.
9. If no fault is found in the wires, replace the engine control unit.
2. Engines AGR, ALH, ASV
1. Disconnect the wiring connector (arrow) from the intake manifold switching valve (Fig. 7.68).

2. Measure the resistance between the valve contacts (Fig. 7.69). Specific resistance: 25.0-45.0 Ohm.

3. If the specified value is not achieved, replace the intake manifold switching valve.
4. If the specified value is reached, connect the wiring connectors to pins 1 and 2 and measure the voltage (Fig. 7.70). Start the engine and let it idle. Specification: at least 4.5 V.
